Highlights of the eleventh Council meeting on 17 November 2009
1. Money in the old current account had already been transferred to the new bank account of HKSCCM. Pending transfer from the old savings account.
2. Reminder letter had been sent to Inland Revenue Department both concerning about application of status of charity organization. If such application failed, society will need to engage an auditor to deal with the matter of submitting annual financial report to Company Registry. (Post-meeting notes: the application for status of charity organization had been rejected on 19 November 2009. Council is exploring the feasibility to amend current M & A in order to fulfill the requirement. An EGM will be very likely needed)
3. The joint annual scientific symposium (ASM) of HKSCCM and HK Association of Critical Care Nurses (HKACCN) had been held successfully. Around 160 participants had attended the conference, and 70 nurses and 23 doctors had attended the pre-ASM workshop. Council plans to co-organize the joint ASM with HKACCN in future on 2-3 yearly basis, and to carefully select another time slot in order to minimize crash with meetings of other professional societies.
4. Cumulative hit rate of HKSCCM web site (www.hksccm.org) had reached around 130,000 since its opening. Old website through linkage from Federation of Medical Societies of HK had been closed.
5. It is advised that any donation to Critical Care Foundation must seek evaluation and approval by Chairman. Official correspondence will be through Secretary, monetary transaction through Treasurer and publication through Editor-in-chief.
6. Several consensus statements of society have been in process of drafting: DVT Prophylaxis coordinated by Dr Thomas Li; CABSI coordinated by Dr WM Chan; Hyperbaric Oxygen coordinated by Dr WW Yan.
7. Membership fee of 2008 and 2009 had been waived. Next term of membership will last two years from 1st Jan 2010 to 31st Dec 2011, and the fee will be 200 HKD. Secretary will inform all existing members by e-mail.
8. A handling fee of HKD 500 will be charged for any successful application of sponsorship of HKSCCM to attend overseas conference, and only HKSCCM members are eligible candidates. The application must reach council at least 4 weeks before the date of overseas conference.
9. ICUs of PWH and RH will be invited to join inter-hospital CCM grand-round
