Please note there are going to have three changes on the Wed program:
1. The tutorial schedule on 31st Oct will change to 1st Nov and the tutorial will be given by Dr Hewa at the ICU in PMH.( G1 ICU MO office)
2. The Inter-hospital grand-round schedule on 20th Nov will re-schedule to 13th Nov ( one week earlier)
3. New program added is the “ Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy” given by Dr Ian Millar on 20th Nov

1. The HKCA (IC) written exam will move from 31st Aug to 3rd Sep 2012
2. The tutorial on 17th Oct by Dr CW Lau will move to 14th Nov as the CICM clinical exam will fall that week. The tutorial on 17th Oct will be canceled
3. The tutorial on 14th Nov by Dr KW Lam will move to 2012.

Dear Combine Colleges Course Trainers and Trainees
Attached is the 2012 training program. The next CCM Inter-hospital Grand Round will be on 17th Jan (next Tue) and the regular program will start from 11th Apr 2012. It is already the 5th year that we are running this training program and I have summarized the changes that had been made over the past 4 years. What is new with this program from this year on-ward is that we have re-defined the criteria of completion of this course before sitting the exit assessment of HKCA (IC). Instead of using the 60% attendance as the criteria, we keep the same principle but using a minimum number of 48 tutorials over the 3-years Higher Vocation Training period as a cutoff.
As we anticipate the number of ICM trainees will be low this year, the trainee may contact the trainer in advance for ad-hoc arrangement of the tutorial in case they cannot come on the schedule time of Wednesday. Such arrangement needed to be report to the Training officer Dr Anne Leung 2 days in advance so that I have adequate time to dissimilate it via e-mail and uploaded the revised program on the Website.

I would like to inform all the ICM and CCM trainees that the remaining program of the Combined Colleges Course from Nov onward will be post-phone to 2012. This will take effect from 9th Nov. However, all the trainees are still encouraged to join the Inter-hospital Grand Round on 22nd Nov 2011.

As Dr HY So needs to attend a conference on Medication Safety, he is not able to give the tutorial on coming Wed on 2nd Nov. As for the arrangement of the rest of the Wed tutorial in Nov to Dec, we are still waiting for the final decision of the ICU Board. Please keep check of the latest updated tutorial list on the Web before coming to the tutorial.

Dear ICM + CCM trainees
Please noted that there is some re-arrangement of the Wed tutorial in Jun and it is highlighted in yellow. In summary, the first two tutorials in Jun will be conducted at PWH ( given by Prof Gavin Joynt and Dr So), the other two tutorials will then be conducted at QEH D6 conference room. There will be no tutorial in the last Wed of Jun.

Concerning the coming Nov Wed tutorial, I have two things to announce:
1. The tutorial on 17th Nov will be re-scheduled to 19th Nov ( Friday) at PWH
2. As PWH ICU is going to move to the new block and they are sorting out the place for the tutorial, please gather at the escalator of the new block 4/F at PWH and wait for Dr KM Chan. Please note that both tutorials on 10th and 19th Nov will be conducted at PWH.

Dear all
The Combine Colleges Course is formed under the collaboration of the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists (IC), Critical Care Medicine (CCM) of Hong Kong College of Physician and the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (CICM). The aim of this course is to provide a formal structured training to the intensive care trainees of these three colleges.
With the help of over 30 tutors from 8 hospitals; namely CMC, NDH, PMH/YCH, PWH, PYNEH, QEH, QMH and TMH, we have devised a two-year training program. It consists of a mixture of core ICU topics; the bi-monthly CCM inter-hospital Grand Round; bedside teaching, viva and laboratory investigations for those candidates preparing for the HKCA or CICM final examination.
The schedule time of the tutorial is every Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm. For the CCM inter-hospital Grand Round, it will be held on the second last Tue of the odd month. Starting from 2010, all the lectures will be delivered either at PWH (3HK ICU) or QEH (D6 ICU). The exception will be bedside teaching or X-ray interpretation; at which the trainees will go to the hospital of the corresponding tutors. Over the stretch of a whole year, there is bound to have some amendment of the program. You are highly advised to check the most updated program on the following website before you go for tutorial.
