F/37 Abnormal CT Brain

Diagnosis:
CO poisoning from charcoal burning in a closed environment for unknown duration

Answer:
CT showed bilateral hypodensity lesions at globus pallidus
Globus pallidus is the most common site of deep gray involvement in CO poisoning
Rarely, it s complicated by haemorrhagic infarction
Lest commonly affected sites include cerebral white matter, cerebral cortex, and other basal ganglia

Progress:
Her carboxyhaemoglobin level was 38.7% on admission
She was intubated and mechanically ventilated with 100% O2
However, she remained comatose.
