On behalf of the Hong Kong Society of Critical Care Medicine (HKSCCM), it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) 2020. We are also pleased to have the Hong Kong Association of Critical Care Nurses (HKACCN) as our strategic partner to support our meeting.
In 2020, we encounter an unprecedented challenge from COVID-19 pandemic. Loads of infected patients inevitably overloaded the health care system around the globe, and critical care is one of the specialties that is severely afflicted. Yet health care professionals have once again demonstrated their professionalism and devotion to fight against this novel coronavirus.
Under the threat of COVID-19 pandemic, we have entered a new normal world. Though we have big challenge in organizing an educational program, we still commit to arrange continuous medical education for health care professionals. To balance the need of continuous education and social distancing for infection control of COVID-19 pandemic, we decide to hold ASM 2020 in hybrid physical and virtual format, and participants have flexibility to choose their own mode of attendance.
The physical part will be held at the Cordis Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong. A proportion of participants will attend the onsite ASM lectures and seminars. Other participants will attend ASM lectures and seminars, join the interactive Q&A sessions via the virtual platform.
The program includes the most relevant and interesting topics in our daily practice, e.g. lectures on COVID, Citrate Anticoagulation for Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), anti-MDA 5 related interstitial lung disease, lunch symposium on direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC), seminars on infection and oncological emergencies. Seminar held by HKACCN provides great opportunity for experts to share their opinions about nursing in critical care. Free paper presentation session allows young fellows to present their hard works in research projects.
The ASM 2020 is going to be an enjoyable learning and sharing event for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. We look forward to seeing you all soon
