You are cordially invited to the 6th Critical Care Respiratory Course (CCRC6) to be held on 24 & 25 June 2014 at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.

Course Overview and Objectives: Diseases of the respiratory system are very important components of Critical Care Medicine. Nurses and allied health professionals working both inside and outside of the Intensive Care Unit will encounter patients with acute respiratory conditions. This course will lead you through common respiratory problems and emergencies with 6 lectures and 7 hands-on workshops. 

 

At the completion of this course, you will:

  1. Have an understanding of pulmonary anatomy and physiology;
  2. Understand and interpret respiratory investigations, including chest X-rays and blood gas;
  3. Know in greater depths the principles of mechanical ventilation and airway management;
  4. Learn how to set up and utilize non-invasive and invasive ventilation, monitor and take care of ventilated patients;
  5. Learn in greater details the management of common acute respiratory diseases including asthma, COPD, ARDS, pneumonia and acute pulmonary edema;
  6. Learn how to care for patients on mechanical ventilation.
