Highlight of the meeting
1. USG subcommittee informed that a survey was under way to evaluate the practice of clinicians among HK ICUs in utilization of bedside USG for critically ill patients. It is hope that a consensus statement can be reached at the end to serve as benchmarking role, and even with impact on specialist training.
2. HKSCCM website has recently been maintained using an upgraded Joomla version for better security. Further enhancement in display and graphics will be experienced by visitors in future. Webmaster will explore possibility to include function of online payment and ad-hoc membership status review.
3. 30th Anniversary campaign OC had held first meeting. Important events will include (1) A press conference which will be held on 24th October at PYNEH; (2) A carnival which will be held on 26th or 27th October 2013. For the carnival, the items included public talks, drama, health exhibition and interactive games. The book to be published by HKSCCM, 生命現場, will be promoted in the carnival. Draft of sponsorship package will be prepared by chairman for council to review.
4. Treasurer reports that 33 ordinary members and 7 associate members had renewed their membership. Secretary will update the membership database accordingly, and will inform council members to encourage colleagues in respective units to join HKSCCM.
5. Academy subcommittee will collaborate with nursing colleagues to apply status of Continual Nursing Education (CNE) provider though HK Nursing Council
6. Council approves to subscribe to membership of Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA) which will amount to 500 Euros
7. Next annual congress of APACCM will be held at Jaipur of India in 2014. Council will explore for possibility to have closer collaboration on selected areas
8. An external sponsor was received to subsidize one member to attend“31st International Vicenza Course on Critical Care Nephrology”. Only one application was received before the deadline of application, and so the sponsorship will be granted to the applicant.
9. There will be an evening symposium co-organized with Fresenius Medical Care on 27th May 2013 with theme on citrate anticoagulation for CRRT
