Highlight of the meeting
1. Four subcommittees have been set up under the council with convener assigned: CCMF (Dr Yan Wing Wa); Academic (Dr Chan King Chung); Publicity (Dr Chan Pik Kei Osburga) and Ultrasound (Dr Tang Kam Shing). The subcommittee function and composition is summarized in a separate document for circulation.
2. The current server for HKSCCM website is fading out of preference relative to the complexity of internet world. An upgrade will be sought by webmaster.
3. HKSCCM has engaged Pop Link Promotions Ltd to organize celebration events of 30th Anniversary. The contract was revised according to council suggestion in last meeting and has then been signed by chairman. First OC meeting will be held within this week. The exact dates and venues of events will be announced soon.
4. HKSCCM Book has its first draft ready by the end of March. Forewords of present chairman and Editor-in-chief are added.
5. Treasurer reports that 22 existing members had renewed their membership. Chairman urges council members to invite ICU colleagues and existing members from their relevant units to participate HKSCCM.
6. OC of ASM 2013 has not yet formed. Council members are strongly encouraged to participate the OC.
7. Dr HP Shum will attend council meeting of Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA) during ISICEM in Brussels. Council would like to have more information from Dr Shum about duty and benefits of being GSA member before paying subscription fee.
8. The Winfocus 2013 Congress will be hosted on 6-9th November. USG subcommittee will help to recruit onsite facilitator/ subjects for the event.
9. HKSCCM has affiliated with Asia-Pacific Association of Critical Care Medicine (APACCM) since 2009 and Dr HY So is the representative in APACCM council. As council membership is closing to retirement, HKSCCM prefers Dr So to continue representing or else would like to ask him suggesting his successor.
10. FMSHK invites HKSCCM to submit an article to Medical Diary to describe the development and profile of HKSCCM. Council nominates chairman to write the article on behalf of HKSCCM
11. A company from India invites HKSCCM to host symposium in May 2013 to serve as platform to exchange knowledge between HK and India ICUs. Since time is so limited, council decides to delegate chairman to decline such invitation.
12. The newly appointed HKSCCM council members are reminded to fill in and sign the specific form issued by Company Registry so as to fulfill the law requirement.
