2013 Jan 22 – The 30th HKSCCM Council Meeting

Highlights of the meeting

1.      Dr Chan King Chung is elected as Hon Secretary; Dr Chan Pik Kei is re-elected as treasurer. Dr Yan Wing Wa is invited to act as advisor to the council 2013-14.

 

2.      Council members will be grouped into three subcommittees so that tasks may be achieved more efficiently. The subcommittees are Academic; Publicity and Ultrasound. The subcommittee can expand composition by recruiting more young fellows/ trainees when appropriate.

3.      Dr Shum Hoi Ping (AC of PYNEH ICU) is appointed as the Editor-in-Chief while Dr Lau Chun Wing will retire from the position. New editorial board members will be recruited, with a view to accept representatives from every ICU.

4.      The ASM 2012 is evaluated as a great success. The surplus amounts more than HKD 180,000. OC suggested council to consider hosting ASM 2013 at a hotel which may facilitate the event sponsorship, but there may be some difficulty to locate available venue at the end of a year. Council is also being reminded to apply CNE at a much earlier stage via HK Academy of Nursing. The publicity needs higher efficiency.

5.      CCMF subsidy policy will be reviewed/ revised by CCMF subcommittee which is led by Dr Yan Wing Wa (Immediate past chairman), in order to increase accessibility of nursing members and to encourage application.

6.      Council has invited Dr Eunise Ho (AC, ICU of PMH) to draft position statement on “Pain, agitation and delirium in ICU”

7.      HKSCCM will celebrate her 30th Anniversary in 2013. The contract issued by Pop Link Promotions Ltd is reported by Dr CW Lau. Council suggests keeping the budget at or below HKD 350,000 and advises for amendment of some items. The revised contract will be brought up for discussion later.

8.      HKSCCM will co-organize Winfocus World Congress 6-9th Nov 2013 with HKCEM, and the theme is “USG in Emergency & Critical Care’. Dr KW Lam and Dr Philip Lam are the representatives at the organizing committee, and Dr Alfred Chan is the co-president. ICU ultrasound users will be recruited in the event\ to serve as trainers. Further details will be reported once available.

9.      FMSHK liases with RTHK for health education on-air. Two ICU topics are suggested for 2013 RTHK program 精靈一點: Brain death certification and therapeutic hypothermia. The proposed speakers are Dr Koo Chi Kwan (Director of TMH ICU) and Dr Yeung Wai Tak Alvin (AC of RHTSK ICU) respectively.
