Highlights of the Twenty-Eighth Council meeting on 18th September 2012:
1. With auditor’s help, the tax duty of period between 1st April 2010 and 12th December 2010 was waived.
2. The contract of publication by Commercial Press Company (商務印書館) has been signed. The first draft is now under revision.
3. HKSCCM website content hit count reached four million in September 2012.
4. Five representatives of HKSCCM, namely Dr. Anne Leung, Dr. Ian Chan, Dr. Grace Lam, Dr. KI Law and Dr. Alfred Chan gave talks in RTHK radio program“精靈一點”on 13th September to discuss issues including ECMO, triage system for ICU admission and World Sepsis Day. The Council would like to thank for their contribution and effort. 5. The ASM 2012 will be held on 2nd December 2012 at the Eaton Hotel. Three overseas speakers have been invited to talk on DVT prophylaxis in ICU, monitoring of cardiac output and update in fluid management. There will be a free paper presentation session, and invitation will be given to newly admitted CCM fellows to share with audience of their researches/ dissertation. Other sessions include infectious diseases, renal replacement, simulation workshop and quality/ ICU performance improvement.
6. HKSCCM will celebrate her 30th Anniversary in 2013. The organizing committee welcomes medical and nursing members to join, aiming to have representative from every ICU center. Interested colleagues may contact Dr. CW Lau, the convener not later than 30th September 2012.
7. The processing of annual financial statement and auditor’s report has been rather stagnant and not without errors. The council stresses the need to punctually subject the annual financial report to Annual General Meeting for consideration of endorsement.
8. The Council decided not to bid to host the 14th WFSICCM World Congress in 2019
