Highlights of the Fifteenth Council meeting on 20 July 2010
1. The legal advisor had advised on revision of the wordings of the 2010 HKSCCM Annual Plan.
2. Visitors of HKSCCM website had on and off encountered prolonged difficulty in accessing the content in the last two weeks because of some Internet Service Provider problem. The webmaster will begin investigation as soon as possible. Any upgrade of server service would be fully supported by the Council.
3. Patient education is promoted by posting on pamphlets to the HKSCCM website under “Patient Page”. Pamphlets of hypothermia, CRRT, tracheostomy were available for download. All members may submit useful information to the Editor-in-chief for further processing.
4. The workflow on CCMF subsidy application prepared by Dr Tang Kam Shing is adopted.
5. HKSCCM Position Statement on Prophylaxis Against Deep Vein Thrombosis had been finalized and was adopted in meeting.
6. Since the HKSCCM Position Statement on Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HOT) were available, professional societies from different specialties had joined discussion with HKSCCM on issue to strengthen HOT support as form of hospital-based facility. Hong Kong Society of Clinical Toxicology (HKSCT) will liaise with HKSCCM on the issue.
7. Organizing committee of HKSCCM annual scientific symposium has been in full operation. Tentative date of the half-day event is 11th December 2010, and the theme is “Implementation of Evidence-based Medicine in Critical Care”. Venue is pending to be finalized. The OC will continue to recruit more colleagues from different hospitals to join the committee.
8. Annual general meeting of HKSCCM will be held during the ASM 2010. Chairman report, financial report, auditor report will be considered, and the executive council may retire +/- proceed to re-election. All council members who have been serving for two years are advised to consider re-election or else to nominate new candidate from individual units.
9. The editorial board for book publication will call the first meeting in August 2010
