Full story of Echo can be found in Wikipedia.

Zeus went to Earth often to consort with beautiful nymphs. His wife Hera was suspicious. The young and beautiful nymph Echo would distract and amuse his wife Hera with long and entertaining stories, while Zeus took advantage of the moment to ravish with other mountain nymphs. When Hera discovered, she punished Echo by taking away her voice except in foolish repetition of another’s shouted words.

Echocardiography used to be called ultrasound cardiography (UCG). In the early days of diagnostic ultrasound, the only popular examination was to detect an echo from the midline of the brain to see if it was deviated by an intracranial space–occupying mass. This examination was known as echoencephalography. Therefore, examination of the heart using ultrasound was called echocardiography. When subsequently echoencephalography was not used, echocardiography was finally accepted as meaning cardiac ultrasound, which was combined with other doppler techniques.
