Please be informed that Caritas Medical Centre Resuscitation Training Centre (CMCRTC) will organize Hospital Authority – Emergency Response Team (ERT) Course on 8 May 2010 (Saturday) at 08:30 – 16:30. Attached is the course detail and application form for your reference.
Introduction:
Emergency Response Team (ERT) Course is an 8 hours certificate course, focusing on first 12 minutes immediate care for the persons requiring emergency assistance. This course will be tailored for all staffs who may participate in ‘Emergency Response Team’.
Course Objective:
Upon completion of the ERT Course, learners should be able to:
1. Be familiar with hospital protocol for pre-hospital resuscitation
2. Communicate effectively during emergency condition
3. Access a collapsed patient
4. Operate AED in safe manner
5. Perform Basic Life Support
6. Perform Basic Airway Management
7. Perform Basic Ventilation Support
8. Place an unconscious patient in recovery position
9. Handle a choking patient
10. Perform a short distant transport in safe manner
11. Perform on-field clearance for Cervical Spine immobilization
12. Provide general first aid
Certification:
Certificate of Achievement issued by Caritas Medical Centre Resuscitation Training Centre (CMCRTC) / A&E Training Center, RH&TSKH, Hospital Authority (valid for 2 years).
Remarks:
The course Logistics (include application procedure, course roster, course record, etc) and certificate will be responsible and issued by individual centre. Course curriculum will be the same in both centers.
Course Instructor(s):
Experienced instructor(s) with recognized CPR certificates from American Heart Association / European Resuscitation Council / Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. (instructor to student ratio: 1:10)
Course Fee: HK$350 per candidate
Course Schedule: mainly on bi-monthly basis

AM Sessions:
Basic Life Support (base on AHA guidelines)
Introduction to principles of First Aid
PM Sessions (skill practice stations):
Station 1 Station 2 Station 3
Communication during emergency & recovery position
Scenarios on 1 & 2 Rescuer CPR (Adult) Transportation of Patient during emergency condition
Scenarios on use of AED Hands on practice on Airway Management, OPA; BVM; Jaw thrust
Scenarios on choking management
Course Curriculum:
This course involves multiple learning activities including theory, practical session and instructor discussion.
