Tin Hau, Goddess of the Sea, is revered by fishermen and anyone whose life and destiny is tied to the sea. Temples that honour her are found in abundance in Chinese coastal communities throughout Asia. This area of Yaumatei used to be near the seaside, but is certainly now inland after massive reclamation of land. This Tin Hau Temple was built in the 1860's. I walked around this area the other day and was attracted by the beauty of the tress with green and red leaves in springtime.
