Highlights of the Twenty-sixth Council meeting on 22 May 2012
1. Financial statement and auditor’s report for year ended 31st March 2011 is adopted. The report will be subjected to consideration in the EGM. Meanwhile, the Hon legal advisor will explore possibility to exempt the tax duty of period before HKSCCM acquiring the status of charitable body.
2. Commercial Press Company (商務) had not confirmed the final date of publishing the HKSCCM book.
3. Council hears report from OC of ASM 2011. There were 165 registrants and 120 did attend. Apart from local speakers, experts from mainland China, Taiwan and Macau also gave lectures. Some sections e.g. ECMO workshop had received overwhelming attendance. The surplus will amount > HKD 150,000.
4. Three colleagues have already submitted CCM-related articles to 頭條日報, and members will be reminded of the exact date of release. It may be possible to invite the authors to be the speaker of RTHK radio program “精靈一點”
5. The position statement “Transfusion in Major Trauma” is under revision after collecting feedback. HKACCN had formed working group on issue of ICU Nursing Manpower Requirement.
6. Council adds the USG course organized by HKCEM and the patient safety course organized by CUHK among the CCMF supported activities.
7. The organizing committee of ASM 2012 will be led by Dr. Anne Leung (Cons, ICU of QEH). ICU colleagues may contact Dr. Yan or Dr. Leung directly if they wish to join the organizing committee.
8. Dr KW Lam and Dr Philip Lam represent HKSCCM to join the local ITU of Winfocus. HKSCCM will support the 9th Winfocus World Congress in 2013 by e.g. recruiting instructors in hand-on USG teaching.
9. WFSICCM will organize an event World Sepsis Day on 13/9/2012. HKSCCM will support the campaign by hosting local activity.
10. HKSCCM received invitation from IntenseTimes for submitting scientific essay. The listed requirements and sample of previous essays had been distributed among the council. Interested colleagues are encouraged to approach Dr Yan for further details.
