Highlights of the Twenty First Council meeting on 19 July 2011
1. Revision of CCMF had been performed by Dr KS Tang in order to fit the purpose as charitable body. Further comments will be made by Hon. auditor. The final version will then post on HKSCCM web.
2. Cumulative content hit rate of HKSCCM web had exceeded 1,200,000. Upgrade of server was carried out according to what had been decided in last council meeting. Faster speed will be experienced by website visitors.
3. HKSCCM position statement of Therapeutic Hypothermia is endorsed. Three of the society’s position statements (DVT Prophylaxis; MARS; Withholding or Withdrawing Life Support in ICU) will be submitted to ECRI‘s HCS for open reference by relevant specialties.
4. The 47 members who had duly paid HKSCCM membership fee will have their membership status being automatically extended to 31st December 2014.
5. Up to the time council meeting, there are two successful CCMF applicants who will be refunded according to the CCMF policy. Council agreed to include Ultrasound Life Support Basic Level Provider Course in the list of CCMF‘s supported programs.
6. Organizing committee of ASM 2011, being led by Dr Chan King Chung, had fixed the date on 4th December 2011, and the tentative venue will be HKEC training center. Overseas speakers from Macau, Mainland China and Taiwan together with local experts will be invited. Themes of lectures undergoing consideration include ECMO, neurological critical care and disaster.
7. Book Publication Committee, led by the Editor-in-Chief, will have the preliminary draft of book ready by 22nd July 2011. Editorial board meeting will then decide on the fine division of workload and the plan of publication. It is hoped that by October 2011 publisher can be confirmed.
8. NDH representative of council, Dr CM Ho, had been promoted to TMH. Council decided that Dr Ho will remain to be council member, while NDH will nominate another colleague to represent NDH..
9. Union Hospital had joined the roster of presentation of bimonthly grand-rounds
10. Schedule of bimonthly grand-rounds will be changed to 1815 to 2015. Refreshment in form of either snack or dinner, if available, will be started serving by 1730.
