Dr WW Yan, Dr Arthur CW Lau and Dr Kenny KC Chan of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital were invited by the Accident & Emergency Department, ICU & Burns Unit of the Conde S. Januario General Hospital of Macau to share their experience of ECMO. From PYNEH’s and overseas experience, ECMO is effective in reducing the mortality rate in respiratory failure caused by human swine flu pneumonia. Presenation file is available for download. Dr Yan reported zero mortality in the seven patients he has so far treated with ECMO, all of them had comparable disease severity with overseas patients.
