Highlights of the Twelfth Council meeting on 19 January 2010
1. After receiving the surplus from the Joint Annual Scientific Meeting, the account balance has reached record high since the inception of the Society.
2. Significant number of members has not yet renewed their membership for 2010 to 2011. The expiratory date is set at 19 Feb 2010, and after which all old members will be taken as entirely new members. It is reiterated that members are only eligible for the enjoyment of membership benefits 3 months from the date of a new application. Secretary will send reminder letter to all members, and individual council member will remind the members of their respective units for necessary action.
3. Cumulative hit rate of HKSCCM web site (www.hksccm.org) had reached around 170,000 since its opening on 20 Jan 2009. Editor-in-chief would like to encourage members to actively submit interesting cases for sharing.
4. With effect from the date of meeting, applicants of Critical Care Medicine Foundation must be a HKSCCM member for at least 3 months in order to be considered eligible, and they have to show commitment to field of critical care medicine by prior submission to HKSCCM website within the last one year. The submission can be in form of journal sharing/ imaging/ interesting case/ presentation file or even abstract of original research.
5. Because of the need to amend the M&A of HKSCCM in order to fulfill the policy of HKSAR government about charitable body, council will call EGM once the draft has been finalized. Legal advisor and auditor will be appointed in the same meeting as well.
