2009 Sep 30 — Message from CCM Specialty Board of HKCP

New arrangements after the Ad-hoc CCM Specialty Meeting on 30 September 2009
Important! CCM trainees please read.
Dear CCM trainees,
According to an ad-hoc Board meeting on 30 September 2009, some new arrangements have been made to the current CCM training. (Click Read More)

(1) Dissertation
All CCM trainees are encouraged to submit their CCM Exit dissertation topic as soon as possible so as to allow more time for your preparations. You can submit your topic once you have registered for the Higher Physician Training in Critical Care Medicine. As a result of longer preparation time, prospective studies are encouraged as they can provide more meaningful and valid results.

You are advised to provide progress report on your dissertation to your supervisor at a regular interval, i.e. every three to six months.

If you encounter any problem in your dissertation, you should discuss it with your supervisor or seek advice from the Board. We would try our best to help you.

Please note that the Board will strictly follow the College guidelines on the timing of dissertation topic submission, i.e. no later than 9 months before the Exit Assessment.

(2) Tutorials
All CCM trainees are encouraged to attend both the Board -arranged CCM tutorials and tutorials arranged by the Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) Board of the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists (HKCA). Information on the schedules and venues of all these meetings can be obtained at the Hong Kong Society of Critical Care Medicine (HKSCCM) website at www.hksccm.org

You are expected to take at least 12 sessions of the above-mentioned tutorials every year in order to be qualified for sitting in CCM assessment. Please record all your attendance in your log book.

In addition, you are encouraged to update your CCM knowledge at the HKSCCM website. Many useful materials have already been posted onto the web including one position statement; all previous CCM dissertation topics; topic presentations; interesting cases’ presentations; previous inter-hospital grand rounds and tutorials’ presentations; abstracts of CCM- related journal articles published in the last two years; and quizzes

If you have any query, please feel free to contact your trainers or Dr WW Yan (Chairman of CCM specialty board)
