The eight executive council meeting of Hong Kong Society of Critical Care Medicine (HKSCCM) was held at the conference room of D6 (ICU) of QEH on 19 May 2009 at 1730.

- The Joint Annual Scientific Symposium of HKSCCM and HK Association of Critical Care Nurses (HKACCN) will be held at 17-18 October 2009 at the Hospital Authority Building. Further announcement and enrollment will soon begin.
- The Editor-in-Chief of the HKSCCM website reported that the cumulative hit rate of HKSCCM web site (www.hksccm.org) had reached >40,000 since its opening. The number of daily visits now reaches almost >800 from just around 50 to 100 at inception . The Council and editorial board would like to thank all generous support and contribution from members.
- HKSCCM website will undergo continuous development, and one of the preliminary plans is the setting up of a fund to support trainee education, meeting organisation, research purposes, etc. The source of funding will include commercial sponsorship to the website, details of such arrangement are being worked out. All members are therefore encouraged to support this website to make it even more popular by submitting more interesting articles and cases, both for the benefits of their own as well as the ICU community as a whole.
- The Society is planning to draft another Position Statement on catheter-associated blood stream infection (CABSI).
- The HKSCCM council has accepted the nomination of Dr Wan Wing Lun (ICU of YCH/ PMH) as council member with effect from 19 May 2009.
- Inter-hospital CCM meeting will be renamed Inter-hospital Grand Round in order to reflect its purpose and nature. Between the two presentations, the council will delegate the Hon Secretary to brief audience on the updated activities of society and council. At present moment, Continuous Nursing Education (CNE) accreditation is in progress.
- Trainees of Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) of HK College of Anesthesia (HKCA) will join our Inter-hospital Grand Round as part of the training requirement outlined by ICM specialty board of the HKCA.
